Women comprise a considerable portion of the global talent, however they continue to be marginalized and discriminated against with unequal opportunities for professional development, and limited access to the echelon of power.
There is an ongoing paradigm shift whereby various institutions in Liberia and around the world are taking steps to eliminate gender stereotypes and promote gender equality and equity. The government of Liberia continues to make appreciable efforts to achieve gender parity, increase women in leadership positions, and encourage their participation in decision making processes, including gender mainstreaming, particularly in government entities.
This is a positive change, however, many more efforts are needed to retain the political will to create structures and policies that are women friendly, and to remove barriers that stunt the rise of women in leadership. Gender policies must be integrated at all levels, into all governing and development frameworks, in all public and private domains.
